If this is a return visit, please reload to see latest additions. This month’s review is by another one we're new to. She mixes all sorts of mythological worlds, with the modern, and a liberal dash of romance and *sex*. Do read on. We hope you will enjoy this latest offering.
Witchling
By
Yasmine Galenorn
In the novel Witchling, told from Camille's point of view--a witch and half-fae--she and her two sisters defend Earth from an invasion from Hell. To do so, they have to find a mystic and the jewel he guards. To do that, they need the help of Mother Coyote, a yokai-kitsune, and a dragon. The kitsune and the dragon take a liking to Camille, who, poor thing, has to decide what to do with, those attentions, ;) while also trying to remember all the reasons why she doesn't need to be attached to a third: a man/demon/being from the subterranean realms--one who's absolutely no good for her. but far too tempting to simply kick to the curb, so to speak.
To say Yasmine Galenorn packed everything into this short little tome is a shorthand way to describe the book. I can think of only one or two mythological beings that didn't show up here; and there's so much going on that I can't believe the book isn't longer. And this is just the beginning of the saga! The next three books are already out, so even though there were some things in the story that bugged us, we'll more than likely be reading forward in the saga--and we're particularly looking forward to reading part two.
If you like modern Urban fantasy with a very liberal dash of Romance, Witchling is the book for you.
