Welcome

Maggie Shayne's Vampire lovers

Who would have thought vampires and romance work wonderfully together? ;) It's not hard to see the connection, really. Dracula and all his variations, down to Lestat have long been highly ... erm ... attractive. So it's natural that they would find their way into the Romance genre. The blending can do interesting little things with the mythos, too. Who would have thought Dracula might want to be a daddy?

Maggie Shayne's Edge of Twilight does interesting things with the myth, for sure. Now this is the final book in the series (I think) and I won't give away all of it, but there's much to find intriguing here, from the thought that a Vampire might wish to save a dying man, to what a cross-bred vampire might do, or be able to ... erm, create. Edge is a vampire much more of the James Dean-ish ilk, than nobleman, anyday; yet he still retains the noble streak of his ancestors (such as *chuckles* Count Dracula and Lestat)--even if he is dragged into it, kicking and screaming.

I'm being backwards, again, I realize. But hey; it was the first book of hers that I've been able to easily run across. And while... it was good, it was more Romance than I think I would have liked from a Vampire novel. But hey, that was the whole point. :) Still, I found the story of Will's plight, and Edge's history, a little more interesting than Amber Lily and her... situation, shall we say? But I did enjoy it, and think, if you're looking for something a little more original than most of the plethora of Vampire novels out there, this will be just the thing. Remember, though, this is a Romance novel, so expect it to be a little more adult, than you might otherwise expect from your average Vampire novel. :) That said, enjoy!

more to come...
